Firstly- tell us about your dress?

I absolutely loved my dress, being so small (5ft) I felt it was very difficult to get a dress that sat in the right places and looked flattering. The girls at pearls and lace were more than helpful, honest and knew exactly what I meant which left the experience so relaxed. I did have to try on quite a few dresses due to this but finally found the perfect one. The dress was Martina Liana, style 1305 in ivory . It fitted snuggly and was so secure even though it was a thin strapped backless dress. I was shocked at how comfortable it was on the day also it didn’t dig in anywhere. I wouldn’t usually feel very confident in very fitted dresses but this one was different, it just sat perfectly in all the right places so as I didn’t feel conscious of anything. The shape was also very flattering for my small height.

The Details

I got most of my accessories in pearls and lace including my chapel length veil with pearls , tiara and earrings all of which I got so many compliments on . I done my own flowers for the day and as it was December I added an ivory fur shawl as a cover up and for a bit of warmth , even though I was more than warm enough in the dress itself on the day.

 The Bridal Party

The groomsmen wore dark navy suits with rustic orange ties , the waistcoats were a lighter blue/navy with a slight rustic orange check through them, this matched the grooms jacket. I wanted the bridesmaids to also feel good on the day , due to covid it was very difficult to find dresses due to shortages in everything. We finally settled on going to Rosie’s closet in Newry after exhausting all other closer options . I let the girls decide on what they would feel most comfortable in and finally we all settled on dark navy dresses that happened to match the boys suits nearly perfectly, these had silver rhinestones and beading at the top and were a very flattering shape on the girls . I accessorised these with navy and silver crown headpieces I also made myself.

What would your One piece of advice for other brides to be planning their weddings?

No only due to covid but a lot of other unfortunate events and a big family loss a few weeks before the wedding, we had a very stressful time planning our wedding day . By the time the wedding came round we had went past the point of stress and just said no matter what that we would enjoy the day even more so due to everything that had happened previously, we really did .

I would say to other brides in similar situations that no matter what , go ahead and you will have the best day and it really did cheer everybody up to have a family event to look forward to despite everything else. Don’t sweat the small stuff and even the bigger things, something will always go wrong, there is nothing you can do about that, but nobody will know or even realise ,only you, everything will always work out in the end for the day.

What was your most memorable moment of your special day?

The most enjoyable/ memorable moments weren’t the big things at all, it was the little things. The craic on the morning of the wedding with the bridal party and in the limo with everybody on the way to the hotel ,also the photos we got taken at Florence court house, we had a lot of laughs and really just having your closest friends and family with you on the day meant the most.
