“Your dress is more than just fabric and lace—it’s a reflection of you and the love story you’re about to celebrate. And when you find it, trust us, you’ll feel it.” 💞
So many of our brides walk in with a vision—maybe it’s a sleek, modern gown or a dreamy ballgown fit for a queen. And yet, when they start trying on dresses, something magical happens: they fall for a style they never considered. If this sounds terrifying, don’t worry! It’s actually one of the most exciting parts of the bridal journey, as exemplified by our next beautiful bride on the blog, Katie.
Katie fell in love with "Karine", a matte satin gown with slim spaghetti straps to grace the shoulders and a gently scooped neckline with an illusion tulle notched detail for a modern touch. The double seaming in the skirt creates a flattering figure before flaring out into a full skirt and train.
Let's hear all about it...
Katie, firstly tell us about your dress?
Pearls and lace was the first and only store I went to and it was the most amazing experience! I went in with a fairly open mind but a good idea of what I wanted and left with the complete opposite! Nollaig looked after us on the day and she was amazing! I remember she brought in some dresses and I saw one in the pile and thought to myself well that's an absolute no! Not what I wanted at all...and of course the minute I put it on that was it! it was my dress! It was the 3rd dress I tried on and I'd have walked down the aisle then and there in it! It was a spaghetti strap dress though which was not for me so I did get detachable sleeves added at alterations. The dress "Karine" was Essences of Australia, it was so comfortable to be in all day!
How did you style your dress?
Pearls was how I wanted to accessorise on the day! I had a simple pearl belt and pearl veil ( she was stunning!) I didn't wear much other accessories other than my aunts pearl earnings as my something borrowed & and thin bracelet. I kept everything very simple which is what I was going for.
I went with dried flowers as I loved the fact myself and the girls could all keep our bouquets after the day as keepsakes! My bouquets new home is the middle of my kitchen table!
Tell us about your bridal party?
I had no idea what way I wanted to go with the girls dresses! Folkster was having a sale and I remember thinking I'd go for a nose with the girls as the wedding was 2 years out but I ended up getting such a good bargain on the dresses I couldn't leave them behind! The dresses were a dusty blue and everything was planned around them! I got them simple pearl heels to tie in with everything and they all wore pearl earnings.
Andrew had a navy suit with navy/blue jacket & the guys in navy suits with matching blue ties! I found them by chance on sale in M&S! I loved how they all came together on the day!
What would your advice be for other brides to be?
Don't make rushed decisions in the planning stages and make sure you're happy with all your suppliers! We had the most amazing suppliers who made our day so stress free and relaxed!
Also make sure to take everything in on the day and don't sweat the small stuff! If something didn't get done don't stress it I guarantee no one will notice!
What was your most memorable moment of your special day?
My favourite part of the day was when the guests were called for dinner we sat in the small snug in the venue and got about 45 minutes together which was so nice just to sit and chat alone and take in everything that had happened so far!
Katie & Andrew, wishing you a long & happy life together. Thank you for taking the time to share your day with us!
