Laura, firstly tell us about your dress?
I absolutely loved my dress. I saw it on Pearls & Lace Instagram and at this stage I was after trying on a few but when I saw the LIKA by Eva Lendel I fell in love and just knew even from the reel that was my dress! It was a gorgeous Mikado fabric which I just think is so timeless and classic but what really sold the dress for me was it had the princess look for the church and the sultrier look for the reception and dancing, it had a removal skirt! I honestly felt like a real life Disney princess! Also to note what made it even more special was my Dad drove us all the way from Cork to Donegal to collect it. It was just my little sister, Mom and Dad we had a lovely meal the night before and got plenty of quality time in, it’s a weekend I’ll hold close to my heart and an amazing wedding planning memory. It was the perfect trip and the girls at Pearls & Lace made it all the more special, there’s nothing they didn’t do for us and even had their own cocktail menu! It was by far the best experience I had trying on wedding dresses they took their time to make sure me, my Mom and sister felt extra special!
The LIKA dress was the first one I tried on, the tears came from all and I said yes to the dress!
How did you style your dress?
I styled the dress in two different ways, firstly I had the beautiful clay flower earrings from Pearls and Lace to match my flower petal veil. I then had a classic single pearl necklace to keep it simple and match the classic dress. The earrings were a statement piece and I loved them! My flowers were a dream from to have and to hold they took my ideas and made the dream come to life. I had gorgeous white vintage roses, with baby’s breath and pampas grass.
Tell us about your bridal party?
We had a black tie event so all the men were in super dapper tuxedos with patent shoes from Simply Suits Cork. They did an amazing job and the tailoring was just perfect and the page boys, Groomsmen and my Handsome Groom all looked like 007s. I also had the pleasure of fixing my Dad bow tie that morning, super cute! The bridesmaids dresses were from oh Polly, they were black with gorgeous beading, we had an amazing dressmaker/seamstress Kate in Ballincollig, Cork who added black velvet bows which just finished the look perfectly and tied everything together. Honestly, if Carlsberg made bridesmaid/angels I had them! Kate also made Moms jumpsuit, it was to die for, something really unique. Moms jumpsuit had black and white feathers at the cuffs and neckline but to top it off it had a black and white cape! It fit perfectly in with the monochrome theme, she was giving Audrey Hepburn vibes for sure.
What would your advice be for other brides to be?
Details, details, details! No matter how small and even if you think they won’t be noticed I promise they will. As an example myself and Greg (my Husband eeeek) had an evening of of applying “mint to be” custom made tags from etsy to candy canes for the dinner table they made most of our beautiful guests photos. We had the amazing Willow and Robin design our table seat numbers with the names of Santas Reindeer and our beautiful furbabies, these were also a big hit. But main advice would be to not stress too much I promise everything will of course fall into place
What was your most memorable moment of your special day?
Honestly, I loved every single moment. From having the most special morning at my Mom and Dads (who had my family home looking like Kevin McCallisters house from Home Alone), to dancing around the kitchen with my bridal dream team, to walking up the aisle and marrying my soulmate, the man of my dreams. It was honestly a fairytale come true
