Your first bridal appointment is one of the most exciting parts of wedding planning — it’s the day you finally step into the gowns you’ve been dreaming about. But it’s not just about trying on dresses; it’s about creating an experience that helps you feel confident, comfortable, and ready to find the one. A little preparation can make all the difference, and knowing what to wear and bring will help you focus on the magic of the moment.

1. Wear the Right Undergarments
   Choose nude, seamless underwear for the smoothest look under most gowns. While some brides like to bring a supportive strapless bra, many wedding dresses have built-in cups or structured bodices — so if you feel comfortable without one, that’s perfectly fine too. And don’t feel shy — bridal consultants are very professional and respectful, and their goal is to make you feel comfortable throughout the entire appointment.
2. Bring Shoes Similar to Your Wedding Day Style
   Even if you don’t have your exact wedding shoes yet, bring a pair with a heel height you’re considering. This helps you see how the gown falls and whether the length feels comfortable.
3. Keep Hair and Makeup Simple
   You don’t need a full bridal look, but wearing light makeup is perfectly OK and can even help you picture yourself as a bride. If you like wearing tan, that’s perfectly fine too — just be sure it’s been showered off two or three times so there’s no risk of it transferring onto the gowns. Remember, part of the magic on your wedding morning will be seeing your makeup and dress come together — so keep your look natural and let the gown be the star for now.
4. Bring Inspiration Photos
   Whether it’s screenshots or Pinterest boards, having a few reference photos gives your stylist a better sense of your style and helps them pull gowns you’ll love. This is so important in helping us help you find the perfect dress!
