Your styling appointment is one of the most exciting parts of your dress journey.
This is where you’ll try on your own wedding gown for the very first time and we’ll help you complete your bridal look with accessories and finishing touches.
We’ll help you try different veil lengths, colours and styles to find the perfect match for your gown.
All of our veils are custom ordered and available in a wide range of styles and lengths.
From delicate jewellery to statement hair pieces, we’ll help style your overall bridal look based on your dress, hairstyle and personal style.
We stock a range of bridal undergarments and shapewear options which you can try during your styling appointment if desired.
We usually recommend waiting until you try on your own gown before purchasing shoes, as your final dress length may influence heel height.
We strongly recommend booking your preferred dressmaker well in advance as alteration slots can book up quickly.
Many brides secure their seamstress shortly after purchasing their gown.
Yes — bridal gowns are not made to measure and almost all dresses will require some level of alterations for the perfect fit.
Most dressmakers begin alterations approximately 5–8 weeks before the wedding date.
Your seamstress will advise the best timing for your gown.
We do not provide alterations in-house, however we can provide recommendations for experienced bridal seamstresses.
Due to insurance and space limitations, gowns will need to be taken home after your styling appointment.
One of the questions brides often ask us after saying yes to their gown is whether another bride they know could potentially choose the same dress.
At Pearls & Lace, we operate a Bride Watch system designed to help reduce the chances of brides within the same circles selecting the same gown.
However, weddings, families and social circles can overlap in ways we may not always be aware of — which is why we work closely with our brides throughout the process.
If there are brides you’d particularly like us to be mindful of, we recommend sending us details such as:

• Relatives or cousins
• Weddings you’ll be attending
• Brides from your local area
• Wider social circles
You are welcome to update us at any stage during your dress journey.
Arrival times vary depending on the designer and order timelines. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process and will contact you once we receive estimated dispatch information.
Once your initial payment or agreed payment plan is complete, the remaining balance is due within two weeks of your gown arriving into store.
We’ll contact you to arrange your styling appointment where you’ll try on your gown and style your bridal look.

Minor alterations are completely normal in bridalwear, however if you have concerns regarding sizing changes, please contact our team for guidance.
