REAL BRIDE BLOG - SHAUNA & MARTIN

Bridal shopping isn’t just about finding the dress — it’s about celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime moment. At Pearls and Lace, we understand how special this journey is, and we’re here to make every step unforgettable. For our beautiful bride Shauna that magic moment happened on her late grandmother’s birthday — a day filled with love, memories, and what felt like a special omen. When she found her dream dress, it wasn’t just about the gown — it was about honouring the past while stepping joyfully into her future.

Shauna fell in love with "Orla" by Essense of Australia, an elegant princess style ballgown, featuring a sheer bodice and square neckline adorned with exquisite encrusted beading. The decadent A-line skirt flares into a voluminous finale of floral lace detailing and radiant tulle.

Let's hear all about it...

Shauna, firstly tell us about your dress?

I wore the "Orla" on my wedding day and I absolutely loved it. I always thought I'd like a cap sleeve on my dress, but when I tried on this dress, I fell in love. The details and sparkles on the dress is what sealed it for me. I felt like a real-life princess. I knew it was the one because I felt so comfortable and when I witnessed the reactions of my loved ones and the staff in the shop, I knew I had to have it. I had been to 4 other shops before coming to Pearls & Lace, but can't say that I had the same experience as I did with the P&L girls.

How did you style your dress?

On my wedding day, I wore my sister's veil (My something borrowed). It had subtle sparkles throughout, which really set off the sparkle of the dress too. I didn't over-do with the jewellery; opting for a fine silver bracelet and pearl drop earrings which I chose from Pearls & Lace at my styling appointment.

My shoes had a small block heel, with a white bow surrounded by pearls to match my dress.

Tell us about your bridal party?

I had two bridesmaids on the day; my sister who was my Maid of Honour and my best friend who I've known for a lifetime. The girl's dresses were a teal colour and were from the "Ever Pretty" website. I was very happy with my choice of dresses, as my main priority was their comfort on the day. I styled these with open toe silver sandals and silver clutch bags.

The men's suits were from "Dervans" in Loughrea, Co. Galway. It is a family run business and my husband always knew he wanted to get his wedding suits from here, as they are good family friends. On the day, the best man and groomsman wore navy suits, with a silver waistcoat and a teal tie to match the bridesmaids. The groom wore the same navy suit, with a cream waistcoat and tie, so that he stood out from the others.

What would your advice be for other brides to be?

I suppose the one piece of advice that I would give to any bride who is in the midst of wedding planning, would be to not let the opinions of others ruin your vision for the day. This special day is about you and your H2B and it is about what the two of you want and what is going to make you two happy on the day.

What was your most memorable moment of your special day?

The most memorable part for us was having all of our loved ones in the same place at the same time, to celebrate us and our love for one another. There's no feeling like it!

There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a bride light up when she finds the one. Knowing we’ve played a part in such a meaningful moment is truly the heart of what we do at Pearls and Lace.  Thank you Shauna & Martin for the glimpse inside your special day!
