REAL BRIDE BLOG - MIRIAM & ALAN

REAL BRIDE BLOG - MIRIAM & ALAN

Today on the blog we have our beautiful bride Miriam and her now husband Alan. Miriam came in with a general idea of what she liked, but was open to trying different silhouettes and fabrics. We started with a few styles that matched her initial vision, then gradually introduced options that offered a different perspective. As she tried on each gown, it became clearer what felt right and what didn’t. Certain details stood out—[clean structure, softer fabrics, subtle texture—customize as needed]—and helped narrow the direction.

What we appreciated most was her approach to the process. She paid attention to how each dress actually felt, not just how it looked, which made the decision more intuitive than rushed. By the end of the appointment, the choice felt clear. Not dramatic, not overcomplicated—just a dress that fit her style and the day she’s planning.

And that’s usually how it works best. Miriam fell in love with Cora by Essense of Australia. A timeless gown featuring a flattering A-line silhouette, designed with balance and ease in mind. The long sleeves bring a subtle vintage influence, finished with delicate lace detailing at the shoulders and cuffs. A modern neckline offers a clean contrast, while the deep scoop back adds interest from behind. The look comes together with soft layers of tulle and lace appliqué, creating light movement and texture throughout.

Let's hear all about it...

Miriam, firstly tell us about your dress?

My dress was designed by Stella York called Cora 7546. I had three dresses picked out from the website to try on.  My dress was the 2nd dress I tried the minute I tried it on I fell in love. I loved the shape it gave me and how I felt in it. It was a real princess dress the high waist suited my shape. I loved the lace and the little bit of sparkle. The sleeves had a pretty button detail and I even got a train. It wasn’t the type of dress I thought I would end up with.
As a plus size bride I was very nervous going dress shopping I didn’t know what to expect I didn’t know if anything would fit or if I’d get anything I liked. The minute I stepped into Pearls and lace and met the wonderful Emma, I felt at ease and they made the whole experience so special for my mum and me. We had a lovely appointment.

How did you style your dress?

I had pearl & diamanté hair band I had purchased a number of years ago on holidays in France I chose a cathedral length veil with some sparkle which we chose with the help of Emma at my styling appointment. I had pearl drop earrings ( Pearl Collection) and pearl necklace. My shoes were from Lace and favour they were low white block heal. I love bright colours i wanted plenty of colour in my flowers pinks, purples yellows Olga in the Flower Shed got it so right I loved my bouquet.

Tell us about your bridal party?

We had a small bridal party Our best man Mark and bridesmaid Linda. Ken Hunter Menswear in Sligo was styling the men we picked lovely Daniel Grahame suits whites shirts paired with brown shoes and belts. Their buttonholes sat in their pockets and were a lovely pop of colour. My Bridesmaid dress was bought online from Azazie it was a Tahiti shade of purple and had a short sleeve and a diamanté design under the bust. It was a very flattering dress. This was paired with Silver handbag and shoes and some pearl earrings and necklace.

What would your advice be for other brides to be?

The main advice I have is to enjoy the whole experience it can be daunting starting out just remember it’s your wedding and do it the way you and your partner want it. Enjoy the special moments in the lead up with friends and family. Try to take a moment on the day of the wedding for just yourself and your partner to take it all in as the day will fly.

What was your most memorable moment of your special day?

My most memorable moment was walking into the church and seeing all our friends and families there and all the love and happiness and seeing Alan waiting for me at the alter. I really enjoyed our ceremony we had picked readings and music that was very special to us both.

Moments like these are why we do what we do—helping bring each bride’s vision into focus. Thank you for allowing us to share a glimpse into your wedding day.
