REAL BRIDE BLOG - MARTINA & JOHN

REAL BRIDE BLOG - MARTINA & JOHN

Another beauty on the blog today, Martina and her new husband John. Martina travelled from Co Mayo with her mum Monica and fell in love with Olive, a minimalist, chic ballgown for the modern bride. Along the bodice, contour seaming beautifully hugs the body, with a slight V-neckline framed with sleek wide-set straps. Fabric-covered buttons and pockets make this gown so comfortable and stylish for all-day comfort and glam.

Let's hear all about it...

Martina, firstly tell us about your dress?

I picked a Stella York ivory dress that had a sweetheart neckline and straps. It came in at the waist and then it flowed out like an A line dress with a long train. It was mikado material and very plain and simple. It was not what I thought I wanted. I took my friends and family by surprise. I didn't think a sweetheart neckline would suit me but it was fab! I thought I might have gone with a sleeve also. I knew I wanted an A line skirt though and this had exactly that. I could eat my meal and not be worried about bloating. I loved the fact that the dress was simple and had a classic feel to it. I knew when I tried on a couple of dresses in Pearls and Lace, that I'd find my dream dress with Pearls and Lace. The dresses are stunning. I loved the fact that with the dress I picked I didn't have to worry about losing weight. It was flattering around the areas I was conscious of. It was so comfortable. I felt like a princess in it! I picked it with my Mum. She knew straight away that it was the one! It was so special picking it with her and the staff were so nice from start to finish! They made me feel so at home!

How did you style your dress?

I styled the dress with small pearl drop earrings, a pearl clutch, a pearl side hair clip and ivory flats with a diamante bow. I wore an ivory veil that matched the length of my dress which I got from Pearls and Lace too. They had it delivered to my house!
I was going for the modern day/classic look. I went with flowers that matched our invitations. There were some white. blue, blush pink and burgundy flowers.

Tell us about your bridal party?

The bridesmaids had similar flowers and then they wore navy satin dresses with gold strappy heels and a diamond drop necklace. They all wore upstyles and I had my hair down. The groomsmen then wore navy 3 piece suits and black shoes. John wore a navy tux with patent black shoes. They had pinholes that coordinated and the groomsmen wore burgundy ties in order to break up all the navy. It tied in with my Mum's outfit as she wore burgundy too.

What would your advice be for other brides to be?

Put the effort into planning as it makes all the difference. Share your jobs/stresses with your bridal party.

What was your most memorable moment of your special day?

When my Dad had his first look at me in my dress. He started to tear up and so did I!

Thanks so much Pearls and Lace. You were so easy to work with. I will have the memories of picking the dress with my Mam in your shop forever. You were there for us with tissues and reassurance when we needed it. You cater for larger sized brides which I loved. You made me feel so good about myself even though I'm body conscious. It was worth the trip up. My friend bought her wedding dress from you and I loved it so much I had to take a visit! Loved the prosecco, the nibbles and the personalised welcome sign on arrival too! Such friendly staff too!

Thank you for your kind words Martina, Noreen really enjoyed having you and your beautiful mum Monica in store and we are delighted to have been part of your special day. Wishing you all the best for your future together.
