REAL BRIDE BLOG - LAURA & JOE

As you step closer to your big day, remember that every detail, every decision, and every cherished moment adds to the beautiful story you’re creating. We hope you find this blog relatable and our future brides to be leave feeling even a little inspired.

With that in mind the next fabulous couple on the blog today are Laura and Joe.

Laura found her 'One' in the form of the beautiful art deco inspired 'Nuala' by Essense of Australia.

Old-world glamour unfolds in this luxurious fit & flare wedding dress, featuring beaded lace over glittering tulle in a soft and flattering silhouette. Sleek spaghetti straps grace the shoulder to meet a soft V-neckline accentuated with lace embellishments as sheer side cutouts and a low back detail add a touch of modern design.

Let's hear all about it...

Laura, firstly tell us about your dress?

I absolutely adored my wedding dress. I didn't expect to find "the one" on my second day out with my mum and sister. I tried on a variety of styles on my first day out so I had a good idea of what I wanted when I arrived in Pearls and Lace. I showed Emma (one of the fabulous girls)a few screenshots of styles and dresses I liked from their Instagram page. Emma brought in about five dresses for me. I fell in love with one of them but still wanted to try on a few more. Emma brought in a few more and I fell in love once again with the very next dress. We had a tricky decision trying to choose between the two dresses as they were so different and both so beautiful. Mum had one favourite, while my sister had the other. I was completely torn! After trying both on again and again (with lots of help from the girls in Pearls and Lace) I eventually looked in the mirror and I just knew my decision was the Essense of Australia dress. I felt fabulous in it and it just felt right for me!

How did you style your dress?our dress?

Styling my dress was easy because my look was ALL about the dress. The details in my dress said it all and I knew I would never get to wear such an elaborate dress again. I was unsure if I wanted to wear a veil but Emma chose one for me to try on just to see if I liked the look of it. She chose one that had a lovely little pearl and glass bead detail which worked fabulously with the little pearls in the straps of my dress. Mum, my sister and I all loved the veil. It really complimented the dress but didn't hide the detail at the back of the dress either.
I knew I would be keen to take it off after dinner and before our first dance so I chose a gorgeous glass bead and pearl hairband, Grainne, which I adored.
It also gave me the opportunity to show off the back of my dress in all it's glory!
For my jewellery, I chose simple pearl drop earrings. Mum and Dad surprised me with a beautiful pearl bracelet on the morning of my wedding which matched perfectly.
For my shoes, I fell in love with a pair of Badgley Mischka which had the gorgeous pearl detail too.
For my flowers, I wanted to keep it simple. I chose a structured bouquet with some movement. I went for white roses with some eucalyptus and natural greenery. I also had some vendella roses which had a touch of champagne/light peach in my bouquet which my bridesmaids didn't have. My cousin is currently drying my bouquet which she'll frame for me and I'll have it forever!

Tell us about your bridal party?

My bridesmaids wore fabulous willow green satin dresses. Three of the girls wore the same style while my sister (my maid of honour) wore a different style. We got their dresses in The One I Love Boutique in Ballinlough, Roscommon. I styled them with a simple gold sandal and a gold clutch.
My husband and his groomsmen were kitted out by Corless Formalwear in Galway. We loved the idea of going with tuxedos for the lads. They are classy and timeless so it wasn't long before we had made the decision to go with them. My husband stood out from the lads by wearing his tuxedo with a velvet blazer, a velvet bow tie and a shirt with black buttons.
Our handsome page boys matched the groom with their beautiful tuxedos from Next.
Our little flower girl wore a beautiful ivory dress also from Next.

What would your advice be for other brides to be?

My one piece of advice for other brides would be to remember that everyone is there for you on your big day because they love and care for you. They want to celebrate your special day. They are full of happiness for you! They'll have an amazing time and they won't notice if anything doesn't go exactly as planned. Enjoy every moment!

What was your most memorable moment of your special day?

After my dad walked me up the aisle, my husband to be (at that stage) greeted me and we sat down together side by side. My bridesmaids were to my left, my husband's groomsmen were to his right. All our family and friends were behind us and our priest was in front of us. I just remember sitting down knowing everyone was there, happy and healthy. The atmosphere in the church was really special and full of warmth. I honestly remember thinking to myself "I don't think this day could get any better!"
That was my most memorable moment of my wedding day.

Thank you for your beautiful photographs, we were truly spoiled for choice.
Wishing you a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
