REAL BRIDE BLOG - JEMMA & CONOR

We always say to brides visiting us to try and keep an open mind, thee most exciting and possibly one of the most difficult elements of choosing your wedding dress is that there are no rules and as its generally not a decision made with your head, so anything really is possible. We have brides who leave us with the complete opposite to what they thought they'd choose and we have brides like Jemma who knew exactly what they wanted! Jemma fell in love with Davina, a full detail mermaid wedding dress with the added drama of a dramatic crepe satin overskirt fixed at the waistline and who doesn't love an added bow.

Let's hear all about it...

Jemma, firstly tell us about your dress?

The dress I ended up buying was the first dress I screen shot from Pearls and Laces' account - over a year before I went dress shopping! Pearls & Lace was the first (& only) place I went dress shopping and my dress was the 3rd one I tried on. And 3 is my lucky number! It wasn't what I had ever imagined myself in, but each time I went to the dressmaker for fittings, I didn't want to take the dress off! I loved that it was 2 dresses in one, so I had two different looks. It was a dream and even looking back at the professional photos, I still fall in love with it.

How did you style your dress?

Because my dress was quite "dramatic" - as my dressmaker called it - I didn't want to go OTT with accessories. I went for an elegant bouquet of white silk flowers and in a glittery veil for my hair. In the evening, I replaced the veil with a crown.

Tell us about your bridal party?

Sticking with the elegant look, the groom and groomsmen wore black tuxes. I didn't want the typical "bridesmaid" look so the bridesmaids wore forest green skirts and white one shoulder tops from Folkster with bespoke green, white and silver crowns in their hair.

What would your advice be for other brides to be?

Go to Pearls & Lace for your dress!

What was your most memorable moment of your special day?

Getting ready at home, the ceremony & the photographs all stand out but the reception is a total blur! And that isn't because of alcohol - it was total adrenaline!

We have thee best brides, love the advice Jemma, thank you !
