Catherine fell in love with Robyn 7404 from Essense of Australia, whimsical florals pair with a modern silhouette for a striking look, complete with an open back and full skirt. The detachable train attaches at the back, adding an ethereal, flowing finish to the gown. The ultra-long train is adorned with large-scale floral appliques, giving an airy, dreamy feel to this already stunning gown.
Let's hear all about it...
Catherine, firstly tell us about your dress?
I found my dress the first day I went looking. I went to Pearls and Lace with some screenshots from the website and a general idea but had nothing I was set on. Kristina was amazing. We tried each dress and talked about features I did or didn’t like about each one. After a while she brought me a dress that I hadn’t really noticed on the website saying, “Trust me, I think you’ll like this one,” and that really was it. She had quickly seen what suited me and all the features of the other dresses I loved and managed to find one that was totally my style. A beautiful Stella York dress with a boho/whimsical vibe yet quite simple at the same time. The gorgeous cape/train sealed the deal right away!
How did you style your dress?
I wanted to keep with the whimsical feel of the dress so went with a soft, half-up hairstyle with some floral hair pins. I also wore a beautiful pair of Leslie pearl drop earrings from Pearls and Lace.I wanted a little pop of colour and chose a fab pair of blue shoes by Charlotte Mills with some pearl details also. To keep myself and the bridal party warm on a chilly March day! I chose some fab pearl denim jackets for a relaxed and fun look!
Tell us about your bridal party?
The groom knew he wanted a green tweed suit so that was really easy! We got these in DC Menswear, Derry. We went with a lovely navy/green mix to break up the colour a little. I also knew that I wanted the bridesmaids in green and chose the most beautiful dresses by Mottee Maids from Creative Ideas Bridal in Cookstown. We just fell in love with the beautiful sleeve details. We kept the flowers simple with lots of greens and whites and I especially loved the added detail of some thistle.
What would your advice be for other brides to be?
My piece of advice would be not to sweat the small stuff! During the planning process you can get caught up in trying to make every tiny detail perfect. While planning is important of course, so many of these details will go unnoticed by your guests! At the end of the day it’s all about you and your partner having the best day and celebrating each other. Everything else will always fall into place. There are bound to be a few little hiccups along the way but trust in all of your vendors to do their jobs…they are the experts after all…and on the day itself just focus on soaking up every precious moment on you and your partner’s special day!
What was your most memorable moment of your special day?
There are so many memorable moments but one that stands out is when we were sitting at the top table having our meal. Someone had advised me and my husband to just pause and take a look around us and I’m so glad we did. It was a chance to really take it all in. Here were so many people we love, all in the same place and all there to show their love and support for us as a couple. It was a lovely little moment of gratitude for us and one we’ll never forget!
We're so thankful to have been a small part of your big day. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness .
