REAL BRIDE BLOG - BRIDGET & RYAN

"When it comes to finding the one—your wedding dress, of course—it’s all about the journey. For our lovely bride Bridget, it wasn’t just about the lace, the fit, or even the perfect train. It was about the feeling she had when she stepped into her dream gown, we here at Pearls and Lace are delighted to have been able to play a small part in her dream day.

Let's hear all about it...

Bridget, firstly tell us about your dress?

chose an Eva Lendel off the shoulder dress for my wedding. I had always wanted a dress that had long sleeves or an off the shoulder sleeve, and I definitely wanted some bit of sparkle for my dress. I had been to two other dress shops before Pearls and Lace and nothing really stood out to me in those shops, but it gave me some sort of idea of what I did and did not like.

I went in to my appointment with a few images of dresses that I liked the look of and styles that I liked. Emma was helping me that day and she was amazing in picking and choosing dresses for me to try on! She made the process so easy and enjoyable. The dress I chose in the end was the very last dress Emma brought in for me to try on, so she saved the best till last. It had the perfect mix of lace and a layer of sparkle under the dress along with the off-the-shoulder sleeves I was after! I knew it was the dress for me as I felt so comfortable in it and I feel like the dress totally suited me and I could imagine myself wearing it on the day.

How did you style your dress?

In terms of styling my dress, there was one accessory I wanted to use even before I had picked my dress and that was my veil. My cousin Katrina had gotten married a number of years ago and bought a veil from Pearls and Lace which was cathedral length and had a lovely lace edge. I was so glad the color and lace style of the veil went perfectly with the dress I chose in the end up.
I wanted the dress and veil to be the main focus, so I wore a simple necklace and some drop earrings and Ryan had bought me a bracelet to wear on the day. I made my own bouquet with some faux flowers and kept it simple with just white flowers and some greenery.

Tell us about your bridal party?

I have always loved the black and white combination, so black bridesmaid dresses were always something I had wanted. My bridesmaids wore full length black dresses from Azazie and their bouquets had a pop of burgundy.
Ryan and his groomsmen wore black suits from Benetti. Ryan's suit jacket was a lovely velvet material so that he stood out a little beside the groomsmen.

What would your advice be for other brides to be?

My one piece of advice would be to try and enjoy all the planning and build up to the wedding itself. I loved the whole planning and organizing stage of the wedding and the buildup to the day. The wedding day goes by so quickly so try and take time to enjoy all those moments before the wedding. The more you plan in advance the easier the week of the wedding will be and the smoother the day itself will go! Try not to get overwhelmed with everything you think you need to have for your big day, everyone is there to just celebrate the day with you!

What was your most memorable moment of your special day?

The whole day from start to finish was amazing, but my most memorable part of the day was definitely when the band started and we had our first dance! I was so lucky to have my uncle's band Keltic Kaos play at our wedding; the music was so lively and having all my closest family and friends all together on the dancefloor joining in with us at the end of our first dance was something that sticks out in my mind.

We hope your day was everything you dreamed off and more!!
