There’s something extra special about helping someone you already know find their dream dress—and when Becky, Carole’s niece, came in to see us, it really felt like one of those full-circle moments. Becky had visited the boutique many times before over the years because of her connection to Carole, so it was so lovely to finally welcome her as a bride.
Like so many brides, she arrived unsure of what style would suit her, but open to trusting the process (and her auntie’s expert eye!). From trying on a mix of different silhouettes to saying yes to a surprise “wild card” pick, her journey was such a lovely reminder of how the right dress can completely surprise you.
Here’s Becky’s story in her own words…
Let's hear all about it...
Becky, firstly tell us about your dress?
I really had know idea what I was going to go for dress-wise! I'm very short (4ft 11) and also very busty. I didn't want anything that was too low on my bust, and didn't want too much skirt with me being short. I also didn't want a low back as I have a scar down my back from a surgery which I didn't want to be on show. I didn't know what type of dress would suit me! I tried on 5-6 different styles as far as I remember. Carole was my stylist and having seen the dresses I picked out, offered me a wild card which ended up being the one. I was in love with it instantly. It wouldn't have been something I would have picked out for myself as I didn't think it would go with my shape but it definitely did - alot of people said to me on the day that it worked great with my shape/height. The dress fully covered my scar while also having a slight opening in the middle of my back which I loved. The dress also had a slit in the leg which I felt elongated my short legs - it's one of my fave things to look back on in my wedding pics - I think it looks so cool.
How did you style your dress?
I'm not a big accessories girl - I wore my hair up, earrings from Pearls and Lace, a little bracelet that my cousin Kayleigh got me that had the letter 'T' on it which is my sons initial, and a bracelet that was my late Nana's - I wore it around my ankle in the same way my sister who got married a year before me did. I went plain and ivory with my flowers and had a pendant with a photo of my late Nana on her wedding day that I wrapped around the bouquet.
